Mobile fault investigation

Mobile Diagnostic Fault Investigation

Mobile car diagnostics across Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham for no-start, limp-mode, electrical and module-communication faults. Conclusions follow available tests and symptoms rather than guesswork.

Fault-code reading is only one part of diagnosis

A scan shows which control units have recorded faults and provides useful direction. It does not prove which component has failed. An ECU-named code may be caused by low voltage, power, ground, wiring, network communication, sensor supply, actuator or software issues.

The available investigation depends on the symptoms, access and vehicle condition. Testing may include power and ground checks, voltage-drop measurement, wiring checks, sensor supply, CAN or LIN communication, live data and supported actuator checks.

Situations we can assess

Common starting points for investigation

No-start faults

Battery voltage, supply, ground, communication, immobiliser status, sensor data and other relevant evidence may need checking before an ECU is suspected.

Limp-mode and warning lights

Stored codes, live data and system behaviour help distinguish an active fault from an old or secondary code.

Electrical and network faults

CAN/LIN communication, voltage drop, connector condition and wiring can affect several modules and create misleading symptoms.

What the initial assessment covers

  • Review of reported symptoms and relevant history
  • Initial diagnostic scan where access allows
  • Relevant first-stage tests selected from the evidence
  • Explanation of findings and a sensible next step

What is not automatically included

  • Replacement parts or physical repairs
  • Unlimited diagnostic time or dismantling
  • Subscriptions, coding or programming
  • A guaranteed final diagnosis within the first visit
  • Travel outside the agreed normal service area

Not every fault can be fully isolated during the initial assessment. Further tracing may be quoted when intermittent conditions, limited access, dismantling or extended circuit testing is required.

Mobile booking and coverage

Vehicle location, safe access and travel are confirmed before booking. Mobile enquiries are considered across Sunderland, Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham, with wider North East travel by prior agreement. Working/contact hours are Monday–Sunday, 8:00 am–6:00 pm; these hours do not promise immediate attendance or same-day service.

See mobile diagnostic coverage in the North East or read the diagnostic and booking FAQs.

Describe the fault before booking

Send the registration or VIN, symptoms, warning lights, fault codes, previous work and vehicle location. Clear information helps establish the first tests and likely scope.
